The murder of a Turkish schoolgirl, Pinar Gültekin, has been reduced by a court after a court found the killer was "unfairly stimulated" to kill. After the news came out, there was an uproar in the whole country, questioning that the move aggravated the violation of women's rights, and the family of the deceased even denounced justice as dead. Turkey's spate of gender-based job email list violence and the highly controversial concept of "unjust provocation" in its criminal law have reignited discussions after the killing of schoolgirl Gutkin. Gutkin, from Mugla province in southwestern Turkey, was strangled to death in 2020 after being beaten by his ex-boyfriend Cemal Metin Avcı. Ozer tried to incinerate the body but failed, so he dumped the body in a trash can and covered it with concrete. At the age of 27, Gutkin came to an abrupt end.
